The Angelo State Handball Club emerged as winners at the Spring 2024 Aggieland Classic at Texas A&M University in College Station. Angelo State went head-to-head in a round-robin format against handball teams from the University of Texas, Texas A&M and Missouri State University. ASU’s handball team secured their position in first place, scoring 400 points throughout the round-robin.

Individually, Aoife Holden, a graduate student in the coaching, sports, recreation and fitness administration program won 3-0 in women’s singles, earning 90 points. Taigan Rivers, an exercise major, and Kinzi Jo Leon, an animal science major, went 2-1 in women’s doubles, earning 83 points. Diarmuid Mulkerrins, a graduate student in coaching, sports, recreation and fitness, won 3-0 in men's singles, earning 89 points. Austin Colwell, a mechanical engineering major, and Israel Lopez Jr., a kinesiology major went 2-1 in men’s doubles, earning 76 points. Jonathan White, an exercise science major, and Dylan Whitley, an intelligence and analysis major, went 1-2, earning 62 points.

The Doug Randolph Cup tournament is in honor of Doug Randolph. Randolph was the founder of the Lubbock-based Randolph Foundation for Higher Education Inc. In 2020, the Randolph Foundation awarded ASU a $1 million grant to endow the Dr. Warren Simpson Excellence Fund for handball which supports the ASU Department of Kinesiology and the ASU Handball Club.
